Accomplishments

Ken has worked collaboratively with others to continue the legacy of prior boards and employees in delivering services with P.R.I.D.E. (Professionalism, Responsiveness, Involvement, Dedication and Excellence) while maintaining one of the lowest tax levy rates in the state for both rural and urban communities. 

 

Among the myriad of accomplishments during my tenure, some of the recent accomplishments include transitioning Medic EMS into a department of Scott County, completion of the Scott County Radio Project and West Lake restoration project, public safety, appropriating ARPA funds, navigating through the pandemic, and implementation of children’s mental health services.  The County has historically been financially responsible, and strategic decisions must be made moving forward to maintain our excellent financial condition.  I will continue to promote economic growth opportunities through expansion of existing business, retention of quality jobs such as Kraft Foods and attracting new business such as Amazon and Sterilite.”

Lead the charge to bring Home Base Iowa, a program for veterans to Scott County.

Appropriating over $33M of ARPA funding to benefit taxpayers of Scott County.

Completion of the West Lake Park lake restoration project.

Transition of Medic EMS into a department of the county on January 1, 2024.

Implementation of online access to live & recorded Board of Supervisor meetings. 

Completion of the Scott Emergency Communication Center’s radio project for public safety departments throughout Scott County.

Expansion of mental health services for both children and adults.

Navigating the county governance through the Covid-19 pandemic.

Assisted in collaboration on the Scott County Library System’s new long term lease with Eldridge.
